In printed form Hamlet was published in 1603 and in 1604 it appeared as an enlarged edition. During sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Shakespeare borrowed for his play ideas and stories from previous literary work as a common practice. He has taken the store of Hamlet for many possible sources which includes a twelfth century history of Denmark complied by Saxo Grammaticus and a prose work by French writer. In the play Hamlet, Shakespeare has depicted the story of Danish prince whose father has been killed by his uncle and later his uncle marries his mother in order to seize the throne. The prince then decided to take revenge from his uncle. In the play, Shakespeare depicted that the action of taking revenge was delayed due to some tragic events. In the play there were important ambiguities such as: whether Hamlet continues to love Ophelia, whether Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude and Hamlet’s uncle Claudius were in guilt, whether the death of Ophelia was an accident or it was a suicide, whether the information shared by ghost was a reliable information or it was just for tempting Hamlet and whether the decision revenge from his uncle is justified morally.
